Features

SimpleContent has many features which make it really easy to use, but this doesn't mean that it's not flexible. The system can be configured to run in many ways and use any number of customised content types.

Simplicity

  • Page templates are standard HTML (including server-side scripting if required), the only requirement being a single placeholder to receive the content.
  • Page access is by name, rather than reference. Eg: mysite/mypage.aspx rather than mysite.com/index?ref=17AF33D…etc
  • Content can be made date-sensitive, so information that is only valid for a specific time will only appear between the dates given. Eg: a holiday offer that is only available in November and December.

Flexibilty

  • Any number of page templates can be used, or all pages could use the same template.
  • Content consists of specified content types which can easily be added to pages. The contents of each item is then edited in a manner specific to each type.
  • Content output can potentially be consumed by remote sites, or even by non-HTML applications, such as Flash or RSS.
  • Multiple independent subsites can be created within one system
  • Multiple domains on a single hosting space can use either their own systems, or share a central system.

Extensibility

  • The tools’ extensibility means that further modules for specific functions can be plugged in, either chosen from the SimpleContent suite or developed by third-parties.
  • Any number of new content types can be developed and linked in to the existing system, these can then simply be added to pages in the normal way.
